Your first step will be checking out your Provincial Herbalist Assocation. They are the regulating body for Herbalists in Canada and will propvide you with your membership and designation.
The majority of our students are looking to receive their Registered Herbalist Designation and Professional Membership so they can actively practice and work in or run their own clinics. You will receive your designation and professional membership from your Provincial Herbalist association after you have met their membership requirements. Please reach out to your association to discuss the requirements. Wild Rose College is recognized and accepted by all provincial herbalist associations across Canada towards your professional membership. Our programs are also accepted in the US.

Wild Rose College only offers educational hours. The Practical Herbalist Diploma Program has 1022 hours and the Master Herbalist Diploma Program has 1098 hours.
The Practical Herbalist Diploma program includes 11 courses (7 herbal, 3 science, 1 nutrition) as well as a plant monograph research project, our program is online and self-paced. With your Practical Herbalist Diploma, you will have a solid foundational knowledge of the world of plant medicine and the human body. This Diploma is the beginning of cultivating your learning and understanding of plant medicine. With what you learn throughout your program, you will be able to assist family, friends, yourself and your community with their health as well as working in the health and wellness sector and continuing on with your education through our Master Herbalist Diploma Program. Once enrolled through our website you will have immediate access to your courses and will have 3 years to complete all program requirements, but you will have lifetime access to all course materials and course videos. Please see the attached course flowchart that will outline part time and full time study options. Our program is 1022 study hours, so if you choose to study at a full time pace you may be able to complete the program within 1.5 years. Additionally, with the enrollment of our Practical Herbalist Diploma Program you will receive 3 year of free access into our Wild Rose Herbal Village group. Our online herbal community is a place where you can connect with other students, herbalists, as well as instructors as you make your way through your herbal journey with us at Wild Rose College. In the group we host monthly live webinars. You will have access through your student dashboard to all of our archived videos including, intensives, masterclasses and webinars as well as herbal resources, including monographs, flower essences, health conditions and more. We host 10 Live Roundtables each year, this is your chance to deepen your herbal learning by diving into case study reviews and relevant herbal discussions based on your program. This is your chance to learn how to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world cases and feature prominent clinical herbalists from across Canada. Our roundtable discussions will be held via zoom and students will be notified with registration links and an outline of the instructor and topics prior to the session.
Throughout the year we regularly host live Q&A Sessions to give you the chance to connect and ask your general herbal questions directly to Professional Herbalists. These are an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice and to enhance your general herbal knowledge. Our Q&A Sessions are held via Zoom and will be recorded and added to the Herbal Village content. You will receive the dates, times and registration links via email. All relevant topic questions are welcomed.
The Master Herbalist Diploma program builds on the extensive foundation in the prerequisite Practical Herbalist Diploma program. Comprised of 11 comprehensive courses to expand on your herbal education, dive deeper into Traditional Chinese & Ayurvedic Medicine Theory/Materia Medica, Applied Phytotherapeutics, Advanced Nutrition, Herb-Drug-Nutrient Interaction, Western Energetics, Advanced Formulations and Business for Herbalists. Once enrolled through our website you will have immediate access to your courses and will have 3 years to complete all program requirements, but you will have lifetime access to all course materials and course videos. Please see the attached course flowchart that will outline part time and full-time study options. Our program is 1098 study hours, so if you choose to study at a full-time pace, you may be able to complete the program within 1.75 years. Additionally, with the enrollment of our Master Herbalist Diploma Program you will receive 3 years of free access into our Wild Rose Herbal Village group. Our online herbal community is a place where you can connect with other students, herbalists, as well as instructors as you make your way through your herbal journey with us at Wild Rose College. In the group we host bi-weekly live webinars as well as our mini-intensive courses every other month. You will have access through your student dashboard to all our archived videos, herbal resources, including monographs, flower essences, health conditions and more. If you currently have a yearly subscription to the Herbal Village, our Herbal Village Coordinators will cancel your membership on your behalf and will extend your membership by 3 years. We host 10 Live Roundtables each year, this is your chance to deepen your herbal learning by diving into case study reviews and herbal discussions related to your program. This is your chance to learn how to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world cases and feature prominent clinical herbalists from across Canada. Our roundtable discussions will be held via zoom and students will be notified with registration links and an outline of the instructor and topics prior to the session. Roundtables are available for 24 hours after to re-watch or if you were unable to attend. We request that students register to receive the re-watch link. Throughout the year we regularly host live Q&A Sessions to give you the chance to connect and ask your general herbal questions directly to Professional Herbalists. These are an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice and to enhance your general herbal knowledge. Our Q&A Sessions are held via Zoom and will be recorded and added to the Herbal Village content. You will receive the dates, times and registration links via email. All relevant topic questions are welcomed.
Your association will likely require that you have a certain number of clinical hours as well. Please reach out to your Association for assistance finding a Herbalist to work with for your clinical hours.
